Epson EcoTank Photo ET-8550 is a wireless all-in-one color inkjet printer for photos, graphics, and everyday documents. It combines printing, scanning, and copying in one machine. In addition, its six-color refillable ink system eliminates the need for traditional ink cartridges.
6-Color Ink System
The printer uses a six-color Claria ET Premium ink system. It includes Photo Black and Gray inks along with standard color inks.
Therefore, the printer supports both color photos and black-and-white output. The refillable tank design uses Epson 552 ink bottles.
Wide Format Printing
The printer supports borderless photos up to 13 x 19 inches. In addition, it can handle several smaller standard photo and document sizes.
This makes the printer suitable for photos, graphics, and compatible large-format projects.
Print Resolution
Maximum print resolution reaches 5760 x 1440 dpi. Therefore, the printer can produce detailed photo and document output.
In addition, a 4 x 6-inch photo can print in as fast as 15 seconds under Epson’s listed test conditions. Actual speed can vary with settings and media.
Print Speed
Black document printing reaches up to 16 ISO ppm. Meanwhile, color document printing reaches up to 12 ISO ppm.
Print speed can change based on document complexity, paper type, and selected quality settings.
Automatic Duplex Printing
Automatic two-sided printing is supported for compatible documents. Therefore, pages can print on both sides without manual page turning.
This feature is useful for reports and other multi-page documents.
Media Support
The ET-8550 supports several types of compatible media. These include photo paper, cardstock, envelopes, and specialty media.
In addition, the straight-through paper path supports media up to 1.3 mm thick. The printer can also print directly on compatible CDs and DVDs.
Scan and Copy
The all-in-one design includes scanning and copying functions. The flatbed scanner uses a color CIS image sensor.
Maximum hardware scan resolution reaches 1200 x 4800 dpi. Therefore, photos and documents can be digitized directly from the scanner bed.
4.3-Inch Touchscreen
A 4.3-inch color touchscreen provides access to printer functions and settings.
Therefore, common print, scan, copy, and maintenance tasks can be controlled directly from the printer.
Wireless Printing
Built-in Wi-Fi supports wireless network printing. In addition, Wi-Fi Direct allows compatible devices to connect directly to the printer.
As a result, several wireless setup options are available.
Wired Connections
The printer also provides Ethernet and USB connectivity. Therefore, users can choose between wired and wireless connections.
An SD card slot is also available for compatible memory cards.
Mobile Printing
Compatible mobile devices can work with Epson mobile printing solutions. In addition, Apple AirPrint and Mopria support provide more mobile printing options.
Therefore, supported phones and tablets can send print jobs without relying only on a desktop computer.
Paper Handling
The printer includes front paper trays and a rear feed. As a result, different compatible media types can remain available for selected print jobs.
A straight-through feed is also available for supported specialty media.
